SURAH AL BAQARAH
Sura al-Baqarah (Arabic: سورة البقرة, Sūratu l-Baqarah, "The Cow") is the Qur'an's second and longest chapter. It is a Medinan sura and comprises 286 verses, including the single longest verse in the Qur'an (2:282).The sura's name references verses 67–73 which recall the story of the golden calf worshipped as an idol by the Israelites during Moses' absence.

Other notable passages include the famous āyat al-kursī or "Throne Verse", as well as the closing two verses which outline the six articles of belief before forming a prayer for forgiveness, divine mercy, and help against the enemies of faith.

In Musnad Ahmad, Sahih Muslim, At-Tirmidhi and An-Nasa'i, it is recorded that Abu Hurayrah said that the Prophet said,
Do not turn your houses into graves. Verily, Shaytan does not enter the house where Surah Al-Baqarah is recited.
At-Tirmidhi said, "Hasan Sahih".
Also, Abdullah bin Mas`ud said,
"Shaytan flees from the house where Surah Al-Baqarah is heard.''
In his Musnad, Ad-Darimi recorded that Ibn Mas`ud said,
"Shaytan departs the house where Surah Al-Baqarah is being recited, and as he leaves, he passes gas.''
Ad-Darimi also recorded that Ash-Sha`bi said that Abdullah bin Mas`ud said,
"Whoever recites ten Ayat from Surah Al-Baqarah in a night, then Shaytan will not enter his house that night. These ten Ayat are;

 TRANSLATION

1. Ya-Sin. (Only Allah and the Messenger [blessings and peace be upon him] know the real meaning.)
2. By the Qur’an, full of Wisdom,
3. You are indeed one of the Messengers,
4. On the Straight Path.
5. This is revealed by Almighty, Ever-Merciful,
6. That you may warn the people whose fathers were (also) not warned. So they are careless and neglectful.
7. In fact Our Command has proved true against most of them. So they will not believe.
8. Surely We have put iron collars round their necks reaching their chins. So they have raised their heads up.
9. And We have set a wall before them and a wall behind them, and We have cast a veil over their eyes so they do not see anything.
10. And it is all the same for them whether you warn or do not warn them, they will not believe.
11. You can only warn him who follows the direction and guidance and fears the Most Kind Lord unseen. So give him the good news of forgiveness and a reward of great honour.
12. Surely We alone raise the dead alive. And We are writing down (the deeds) which they have sent forward and their effects (that are left behind). And We have encompassed everything in the illumining Book (al-Lawh al-Mahfuz).
13. And (in story-telling style) narrate to them the example of the people of a city (Antioch – an ancient city in North Syria), when there came to them some Messengers.
14. When (at first) We sent to them two Messengers, they rejected them both. Then We reinforced (them) with a third (Messenger). Then the three of them said: ‘Surely we have been sent to you.’
15. (The people of the city) said: ‘You are but human beings like us, and the Most Kind Lord has not sent down anything. You are only lying.’
16. (The Messengers) said: ‘Our Lord knows that assuredly we have been sent to you.
17. And there is no binding upon us except to communicate the message expressly.’
18. (The people of the city) said: ‘An evil omen has reached us from you. If you do not desist, we shall certainly stone you and you will definitely suffer an agonizing punishment at our hands.’
19. (The Messengers) said: ‘Your evil omen is with you. Is it an evil omen that you are admonished? Nay, but you are a people who exceed limits.’
20. And a person came running from the farthest end of the city. He said: ‘O my people, follow the Messengers.
21. Follow those who do not ask from you any compensation and who are rightly guided.
22. And what is the matter with me that I should not worship Him Who has created me and to Him (all of) you will be returned?
23. Should I take such gods apart from Him (Allah) that if the Most Kind Lord intends to do me any harm, their intercession would not bring me any benefit, nor would they be able to rescue me?
24. Then, certainly I would be in open error.
25. Surely, I have believed in your Lord, so listen to me (attentively).’
26. (The disbelievers martyred him; then it) was said (to him): ‘(Come,) enter Paradise.’ He said: ‘Alas! Would that my people knew,
27. That my Lord has forgiven me and put me among the honoured and near ones.’
28. And, after him, We did not send any army (of angels) from the heaven to his people, nor were We to send down (angels to destroy them).
29. (Their torment) was nothing but a Mighty Blast, and there were they put out (dead like charred coal).
30. Ah! Woe to (these) servants! Never did a Messenger come to them but they used to mock him.
31. Have they not seen how many communities We destroyed before them, and that now they will not return to them,
32. But that all of them will be brought before Our Presence?
33. And a sign for them is the dead earth to which We gave life, and We brought forth from it (grain); then they eat of it.
34. And We produced in it gardens of date-palms and grapes, and also caused some springs as well to gush forth in it,
35. So that they may eat of its fruits. And it is not their hands that made it. Do they not thank (even) then?
36. Glory be to Him Who created everything in pairs of those the earth grows and of themselves as well and, (moreover,) of the things they do not know.
37. And (also) a sign for them is the night: (how) We draw the day out from it! So then they are left in darkness!
38. And the sun is always rotating (non-stop) for its appointed destination. It is a measure fixed by Almighty, All-Knowing (Lord).
39. And We have also appointed stages (of motion and rotation) of the moon till (its appearance to the dwellers of the earth wanes to) the semblance of an old dry branch of a palm-tree.
40. Neither can the sun (deviate from its orbit and) overtake the moon nor can the night precede the day and all (the stars and planets) are moving in their (respective) orbits.
41. And a Sign for them is (also) that We boarded their fathers (the Children of Adam) into the laden Ark of (Nuh [Noah] and saved them).
42. And like this (Ark) We made for them (many other means of transport) which they ride.
43. And if We intend We drown them. Then, there will not be any to respond to their cry, nor will they be saved anyway,
44. Except for Our Mercy and (this) provision is for an appointed term.
45. And when it is said to them: ‘Fear that (torment) which is before you and which is behind you so that you may be shown Mercy.’
46. And not a Sign of the Signs of their Lord comes to them but they turn away from it.
47. And when it is said to them: ‘Spend (in the way of Allah) of what Allah has given you,’ the disbelievers say to the believers: ‘Shall we feed that (poor) man whom, if Allah so willed, He would feed (Himself)?’ You are but (caught) in clear error.
48. And they say: ‘When will this promise (of the Last Hour) be fulfilled if you are truthful?’
49. They are simply waiting for a Mighty Blast which will seize them (all of sudden), and they will be disputing among themselves.
50. Then they will not be able to make a will or to return to their families.
51. And (when) the Trumpet will be blown (again) they will come out of the graves at once and run towards their Lord.
52. (Seeing the horrors of the Hour of Resurrection,) they will say: ‘Ah, woe to us! Who has raised us from our sleeping apartments? This (coming back to life) is the same that the Most Kind Lord promised and the Messengers spoke the Truth.’
53. This will only be a Mighty Blast. Then all of them will be brought to Our Presence straight away.
54. So today no soul will be wronged in the least. Nor will you be rewarded except for the deeds you used to do.
55. Surely the residents of Paradise will be rejoicing today (in their) favourite pastime pursuits (like spiritual visits, entertainments, sessions of hymns and spiritual musical performance and other favours).
56. They and their wives will be reclining on raised couches under the deep calming shades.
57. There they will be provided with fruits (of every kind) and will find (available) everything they will solicit.
58. ‘Peace (be upon you)!’ (This) greeting will be conveyed (to them) from the Ever-Merciful Lord.
59. ‘And, O evildoers, get aside (from the righteous) this Day.
60. O Children of Adam! Did I not take this covenant from you not to worship Satan; no doubt he is your open enemy;
61. And that you keep worshipping Me alone? That is the straight path.
62. And surely he led great many of you astray, so had you not any wisdom?
63. This is the same Hell that was being promised to you.
64. Enter this Hell today, for you kept disbelieving.’
65. Today We shall seal their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will bear witness to the deeds which they used to earn.
66. And if We had so willed, We would have obliterated the very marks of their eyes. Then if they would have run on the path, how could they have seen?
67. And if We had so intended, We would have defaced them in their places. Then they would have power neither to go forward nor to turn back.
68. And someone whom We give long life, We cause him to degenerate (towards childhood and debility) in strength and disposition. So, do they not have sense?
69. And We have not taught him (the Holy Messenger [blessings and peace be upon him]) composing poetry, nor does it befit his dignity. This (Book) is but direction and guidance and the illumining Qur’an,
70. So that it may warn the one who is alive and the word of judgment may be proved against the disbelievers.
71. Have they not seen that We created for them cattle out of the (Creation) We made with Our Mighty Hand; so they are their owners?
72. And We subjected those (cattle) to them. So some of them are their riding animals, and they eat some of them.
73. And there are other benefits and drinks in them as well for them. Then why they do not give thanks?
74. And they have made idols their gods other than Allah with the hope that they will be helped.
75. These idols are incapable of helping them. And these (disbelievers and polytheists) will be an army of these (idols) that will be brought (into Hell together).
76. So let not what they utter hurt you. Surely We know whatever they hide and whatever they make public.
77. Has man not seen that We have created him from a sperm drop? Even then, he has become an open adversary.
78. And he (himself) puts forth examples for Us and has forgotten (the truth of) his creation. He says: ‘Who will give life to bones when they will have been decomposed?’
79. Say: ‘He Who created them the first time will give them life. And He knows best every Creation,
80. He Who produces fire for you out of the green tree so now you kindle fire with the same!
81. And has He Who created the heavens and the earth not the power to create the like of them (again)?’ Yes indeed! And He is the Supreme Creator, All-Knowing.
82. His Command (of creation) is only that when He intends (to create) something, He says to it: ‘Be,’ so it instantly becomes (existent or visible and continues becoming).
83. So, Glory be to Him in Whose Hand (Power and Control) is the Sovereignty over everything and to Him you will be returned.

THE VIRTUE

1. The Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, ‘Surely everything has a heart, and the heart of the Qur’an is Yasin. I would love that it be in the heart of every person of my people’[Bazzar]. (S.Muhammad Ali Sabuni, Tafsir-al-Sabuni Vol.2)

2. The Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, ‘Whoever recites Yasin once Allah will record the reward of reciting the Qur’an ten times.’[Maqal, Tirmidhi 2812/A & Dhahabi]

3. It has been reported by Aisha (radiAllahu anha)that the Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) said that there is a surah in the Qur’an that intercedes for its reciter and forgive its listener. Know! It is Surah Yasin. (It is called ‘Mu’amma’ in the Torah.) It was enquired, what is Mu’amma? The Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, ‘it embraces the person with the goodness of this world and removes the dismay of the Hereafter’[Hashiya of Tafsir Jalalalayn , pg 368].

4. The Prophet said, ‘Whoever recited Surah Yasin in the night seeking Allah’s pleasure, Allah would forgive him’[Ibn Hibban, Darimi 3283/A, Abu Yala, Tabarani, Baihaqi & Ibn Mardawaih]

5. Ma`qil ibn Yasar (Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him, his family, companions, and followers) said,”Ya Sin is the heart of the Qur’an. No one reads it intending thereby Allah and the Next Abode except that Allah forgives them. Recite it for your deceased ones.” [Related by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, Nasa'i (this wording is his), and Hakim, who deemed it rigorously authenticated (sahih)]

6. Imam Ghazali explained that this is because soundness of faith rests on acknowledging Resurrection and Judgment, and Surat Ya Sin details this in the most emphatic of ways. Imam Fakhr al-Din al-Razi concurred.

7. Imam Tibi explained in his commentary on Mishkat al-Masabih that Surat Ya Sin was called ‘the Heart of the Qur ‘an ‘ because of what it contains of overwhelming proofs, decisive signs, subtle spiritual meanings, eloquent admonition, and stern warnings.

Surah Al-Ikhlas 112 (The Purity)

Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Raheem
In the Name of Allâh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Qul Huwa-llahu ‘Ahad
Say (O Muhammad (SAW)): "He is Allâh, (the) One.

Allahus-Samad Allâh-us-Samad
[Allâh the Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, (He neither eats nor drinks)]

Lam Yalid Wa Lam Yulad
"He begets not, nor was He begotten;

Walam Yakul-La-hu Kufuwan ‘Ahad
"And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him."

The 112th chapter of the Qur’an is called al-Ikhlās, which literally means “sincerity” or “purity”. It is given this name since it affirms the purity of faith, uncorrupted by polytheism, and sincerity of worship to Allah alone without partner. It affirms in the most emphatic terms that Allah is One (al-Ahad), the only true God. It affirms that He is wholly Self-Subsisting (al-Samad), and negates any claim that He was born of another or that He has a child. It then concludes by affirming His absolute uniqueness.

Allah’s names al-Ahad and al-Samad appear in the Qur’an only in this chapter.

Much can be said about the importance of this short chapter of the Qur’an. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to recite this chapter in the second unit of the Morning Prayer. He would also recite it in the Witr prayer at night and in the prayer that he would offer after completing the circumambulation of the Ka`bah.

Al-Ikhlās was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during the early days of Islam when the Muslims were still living in Mecca. The pagans of Mecca one day approached him and challenged: “Give us the genealogy of your Lord.”

It was then that Allah revealed the four brief verses of Sūrah al-Ikhlās to His Prophet:

Anas mentioned that a man said to the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) , ‘I really love this surah’. The Prophet replied, ‘And your love for it will enable you to enter paradise’

[at-Tirmidhi 2826/A, Riyad as-Salihin by Imam an-Nawawi Ch.183 #1013]

Abu Sa’id al-Khudri (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said about the surah, “Say: He is Allah, Absolute Oneness” (112), ‘By Him in Whose hand my soul is, it is equal to one third of the Qur’an!’
[Sahih al-Bukhari 6:61 #533, Riyad as-Salihin by Imam an-Nawawi Ch.183 #1010]

“Qul Hu Allahu Ahad” is equal to a third of the Qur’an and “Qul ya ayyuhal Kafirun” is equal to a fourth of the Qur’an.”
[at-Tabarani, classed as Sahih]

Mu’adh bin Anas (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, “Whoever recites (Qul Hu Allahu Ahad) ten times, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.”

Anas (radhi Allah anhu) said: “When you recite Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Al-Ikhlas upon lying on your bed, you will be safeguarded and should become fearless of every thing except death.”
[Narrated by Baraa, Tafseer Mazhari 1:31]

A’isha (radiAllahu anha) reported that whenever the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) went to bed every night, he used to cup his hands together and blow over it after reciting Surat Al-Ikhlas, Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas, and then rub his hands over whatever parts of his body he was able to rub, starting with his head, face and front of his body. He used to do that three times.
[Sahih al-Bukhari 6:61 #536]

Surah Al-Imran Ayat 103 (The Rope)

"And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you - when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided."

(Dan berpegang teguhlah kamu sekalian kepada tali Allah dan janganlah kamu bercerai-berai; dan ingatlah nikmat Allah kepada kamu ketika kamu dahulunya bermusuh-musuhan, lalu Dia (Allah) menjinakkan hati kamu sehingga kamu menjadi bersaudara dengan nikmat-Nya (nikmat Allah), padahal (dahulunya) kamu berada di pinggir lubang neraka, lalu Dia (Allah) selamatkan kamu. Demikianlah Allah menyatakan ayat-ayat-Nya (tanda-tanda Allah) kepada kamu agar kamu mendapat petunjuk.)

The Necessity of Holding to the Path of Allah and the Community of the Believers

Allah said,
And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allah, and be not divided among yourselves. It was said that, to the Rope of Allah refers to Allah's covenant, just as Allah said in the following Ayah, Indignity is put over them wherever they may be, except when under a covenant (of protection) from Allah, and from men;) [Surah Al-'Imran 3], in reference to pledges and peace treaties.

Allah's statement
and be not divided among yourselves, orders sticking to the community of the believers and forbids division. There are several Hadiths that require adhering to the Jama'ah (congregation of believers) and prohibit division. Muslim recorded that Abu Hurayrah (Radhi Allahu Anhu) said that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu 'Alayhi wa Sallam) said, It pleases Allah for you to acquire three qualities and displeases Him that you acquire three characteristics. It pleases Him that you worship Him Alone and not associate anything or anyone with Him in worship, that you hold on to the Rope of Allah altogether and do not divide, and that you advise whoever Allah appoints as your Leader. The three that displease Him are that you say, `It was said,' and, `So-and-so said,' asking many unnecessary questions and wasting money.

Allah said,
and remember Allah's favor on you, for you were enemies one to another but He joined your hearts together, so that, by His grace, you became brothers. This was revealed about the Aws and Khazraj. During the time of Jahiliyyah, the Aws and Khazraj were at war and had great hatred, enmity and ill feelings towards each other, causing long conflicts and battles to occur between them. When Allah brought Islam, those among them who embraced it became brothers who loved each other by Allah's grace, having good ties for Allah's sake and helping each other in righteousness and piety. Allah said, He it is Who has supported you with His Help and with the believers. And He has united their hearts. If you had spent all that is in the earth, you could not have united their hearts, but Allah has united them)[Surah Al-Anfal 8,63],

And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided."  Before Islam, their disbelief had them standing at the edge of a pit of the Fire, but Allah saved them from it and delivered them to faith. The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu 'Alayhi wa Sallam) reminded the Ansar [from both Aws and Khazraj] of this bounty when he was dividing the war booty of Hunayn. During that time, some Ansar did not like the way the booty was divided, since they did not get what the others did, although that was what Allah directed His Prophet to do. The Messenger of Allah gave them a speech, in which he (Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said, O Ansar! Did I not find you misguided and Allah directed you to guidance because of me. Were you not divided beforehand and Allah united you around me. Were you not poor and Allah enriched you because of me Whenever the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam) asked them a question, they would answer, "Indeed, Allah and His Messenger have granted us bounty.''

Al-Mulk -Mohammed Taha Al-Junaid

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iM4EkbKRBuE

 Surah Al-Mulk (Dominion)

1. Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things.
2. Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed. And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving;
3. Who has created the seven heavens one above another, you can see no fault in the creations of the Most Beneficent. Then look again: "Can you see any rifts?"
4. Then look again and yet again, your sight will return to you in a state of humiliation and worn out.
5. And indeed We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps, and We have made such lamps (as) missiles to drive away the Shayatin (devils), and have prepared for them the torment of the blazing Fire.
6. And for those who disbelieve in their Lord (Allah) is the torment of Hell, and worst indeed is that destination.
7. When they are cast therein, they will hear the (terrible) drawing in of its breath as it blazes forth.
8. It almost bursts up with fury. Every time a group is cast therein, its keeper will ask: "Did no warner come to you?"
9. They will say: "Yes indeed; a warner did come to us, but we belied him and said: 'Allah never sent down anything (of revelation), you are only in great error.'"
10. And they will say: "Had we but listened or used our intelligence, we would not have been among the dwellers of the blazing Fire!"
11. Then they will confess their sin. So, away with the dwellers of the blazing Fire.
12. Verily! Those who fear their Lord unseen (i.e. they do not see Him, nor His Punishment in the Hereafter, etc.), theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise).
13. And whether you keep your talk secret or disclose it, verily, He is the All-Knower of what is in the breasts (of men).
14. Should not He Who has created know? And He is the Most Kind and Courteous (to His slaves) All-Aware (of everything).
15. He it is, Who has made the earth subservient to you (i.e. easy for you to walk, to live and to do agriculture on it, etc.), so walk in the path thereof and eat of His provision, and to Him will be the Resurrection.
16. Do you feel secure that He, Who is over the heaven (Allah), will not cause the earth to sink with you, then behold it shakes (as in an earthquake)?
17. Or do you feel secure that He, Who is over the heaven (Allah), will not send against you a violent whirlwind? Then you shall know how (terrible) has been My Warning?
18. And indeed those before them belied (the Messengers of Allah), then how terrible was My denial (punishment)?
19. Do they not see the birds above them, spreading out their wings and folding them in? None upholds them except the Most Beneficent (Allah). Verily, He is the All-Seer of everything.
20. Who is he besides the Most Beneficent that can be an army to you to help you? The disbelievers are in nothing but delusion.
21. Who is he that can provide for you if He should withhold His provision? Nay, but they continue to be in pride, and (they) flee (from the truth).
22. Is he who walks without seeing on his face, more rightly guided, or he who (sees and) walks on a Straight Way (i.e. Islamic Monotheism).
23. Say it is He Who has created you, and endowed you with hearing (ears), seeing (eyes), and hearts. Little thanks you give.
24. Say: "It is He Who has created you from the earth, and to Him shall you be gathered (in the Hereafter)."
25. They say: "When will this promise (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) come to pass? if you are telling the truth."
26. Say (O Muhammad saw): "The knowledge (of its exact time) is with Allah only, and I am only a plain warner."
27. But when they will see it (the torment on the Day of Resurrection) approaching, the faces of those who disbelieve will be different (black, sad, and in grieve), and it will be said (to them): "This is (the promise) which you were calling for!"
28. Say (O Muhammad saw): "Tell me! If Allah destroys me, and those with me, or He bestows His Mercy on us, - who can save the disbelievers from a painful torment?"
29. Say: "He is the Most Beneficent (Allah), in Him we believe, and in Him we put our trust. So you will come to know who is it that is in manifest error."
30. Say (O Muhammad saw): "Tell me! If (all) your water were to be sunk away, who then can supply you with flowing (spring) water?"

The Virtues of Reciting Surah al Mulk

The Prophet said, 'There is a surah in the Qur'an which is only 30 verses.  It defended whoever recited it until it puts him into paradise' i.e. Surah al Mulk
[Fath al Qadir 5/257, Sahihul Jamiea 1/680, Tabrani in Al-Awsat & Ibn
Mardawaith]

Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah said, "The Qur'an contains a surah of thirty ayats which will intercede for a man until he is forgiven. It is:  'Blessed be He who has the Kingdom in His Hand!' (67)"
[abu Dawud, Ahmad, at-Tirmidhi, Riyad as-Salihin by Imam an-Nawawi
Ch.183 #1016]

The Prophet said, 'Surah al Mulk is the protector from the torment of the grave'
[Sahihul Jamiea 1/680, Hakim 2/498 & Nasai]

Jabirsaid it was the custom of the Prophet not to go to sleep until he had read Tabarakallahi Biyadihil Mulk and Alif Laam Meem Tanzeel.
[Ahmad, Tirmidhi and Darami]

Anas reported Rasulullah as saying, "There is a Surah which will plead for its reciter till it causes him to enter paradise (Tabarakallahi Biyadihil Mulk)."
[at-Tabrani]

Abdullah Ibn 'Abbas reported that the Prophet said, 'It is my desire/love that Surahtul Mulk should be in the heart of every Muslim'
[Hakim, al-Hisnul Haseen by the cassical scholar Muhammad al-Jazri]

Ibn Abbas said that one of the Prophet companions set up his tent over a grave without realising that it was a grave and it contained a man who was reciting the Surah Tabarakallahi Biyadihil Mulk up to the end. He went and told the Prophet who said, 'It is The Defender; it is The Protector which safeguards from Allah Ta'ala's punishment'
[at-Tirmidhi]

It was narrated that Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said: Whoever readsTabarakallahi Biyadihil Mulk [i.e. Surah al-Mulk] every night, Allah will protect him from the torment of the grave. At the time of the Messenger of Allah we used to call ital-mani'ah (that which protects). In the Book of Allah it is a surah which, whoever recites it every night has done very well.

  • Build a house in Paradise by Reciting Surat Ikhlas: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever recites Qul huwa Allaahu ahad ten times, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.” (Saheeh al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer, 6472).
  • Reciting Surah Ikhlas is Equivalent to one third of Qur’an: Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to his Companions: ‘Could any one of you not recite one third of the Qur’aan in one night?’ They found the idea too difficult and said: ‘Who among us could do that, O Messenger of Allah?’ He said, ‘Allaahu’l-ahad, al- samad [i.e., Soorat al-Ikhlaas] is one third of the Qur’aan.’” (Reported by Bukhari, 4628)
  • It’s Sunnah to Recite Surat al-Ikhlas before sleeping: Aa’isha (R.A) reported that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to bed, he would cup his hands together, blow into them and recite into them Qul huwa Allaahu ahad [Soorat al-Ikhlaas], Qul a’oodhu bi Rabbi’l-falaq [Soorat al-Falaq] and Qul a’oodhu bi Rabbi’l-naas [Soorat al-Naas] (these are the last 3 soorahs of the Qur’an). Then he would wipe as much of his body as he could with his hands, starting with his head and face, and the front of his body. He would do this three times. (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 4630)

Ibnu Katsir)

It is recommended to recite Surat al-Kahf completely the night before Friday, and it is also recommended to do so Friday itself, before Maghrib time. Ibn Abidin said, And it is best to do so early on Friday, in order to rush to the good and to avoid forgetting. [Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar, Bab al-Jumu`ah]

The evidence for it being recommended includes the hadith related by Hakim and Bayhaqi, from Abu Sa`id (Allah be pleased with him), Whoever recites Surat al-Kahf on Friday, light shall shine forth for him between the two Fridays. [Ibn Hajar, Talkhis al-Habir]

Rasulullah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: "There is such an hour on Friday that if any Muslim makes dua in it, his dua will definitely be accepted. " (Bukhari, Muslim) The ulama have differed in specifying that hour which has been mentioned in the Hadith . Shaykh Abdul Haq Muhaddith Dehlawi rahmatullahialayh has mentioned 40 different opinions in his book Sharh Sifrus Sa'aadah . However, from among all these opinions he has given preference to two opinions: (1) That time is from the commencement of the khutbah till the end of the salaat, (2) That time is towards the end of the day . A big group of ulama have given preference to this second opinion and there are many Ahadith which support this opinion . Shaykh Dehlawi rahmatullahialayh says that this narration is correct that Hadrat Fatimah radiallahuanha used to order her maid on Fridays to inform her when the day is about to end so that she could occupy herself in making zikr and duas. (Ash'atulLama'aat)

Rasulullah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: "Friday is the "mother" of all days and the most virtuous in the sight of Allah Ta'ala. In the sight of Allah Ta'ala it has more greatness than Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Ad'haa. " (Ibn Majah)

Rasulullah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: "The Muslim who passes away on the night or during the day of Friday, Allah Ta'ala saves him from the punishment of the grave . " (Tirmidhi)
