Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) Last Tears

A passage from the last moments of our most beloved Rasulullah SAW and his love for his ummah.

Allāhumma salli ‘ala Muhammad wa ‘ala āli Muhammad kama sallaita ‘ala āli Ibrāhīm; Innaka Hamīdum Majīd; Allāhumma bārik ‘ala Muhammad, wa ‘ala ‘āli Muhammad, kama bārakta ‘ala āli Ibrāhīm; Innaka Hamīdum Majīd.’

(O Allāh! Send Prayers on Muhammad and on the family of Muhammad, as You sent Prayers on the family of Ibrāhīm, Verily You are Most Praiseworthy, Full of Glory; O Allāh! Send Your Blessings on Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You sent your Blessings on the family of Ibrāhīm, Verily You are Most Praiseworthy, Full of Glory.)''’

Suddenly there was a person who said salaam. “May I come in?” he asked. But Fatimah did not allow him to enter the room. “I’m sorry, my father is ill,” said Fatimah, and turned back and closed the door.

She went back to Prophet Muhammad sallalahu alaihi wasalam and he opened his eyes and asked, “Who was he, my daughter?”

“I dont know my father. It’s the first time I’m seeing him,” Fatimah said gently.
“Know one thing…! He is the one who erases the temporary pleasure; he is who separates the companionship in the world. He is the Angel of Death,” said Rasulullah sallalahu alaihi wasalam.

Fatimah bore the bomb of her cry.

The death angel came towards Him, but Rasulullah sallalahu alaihi wasalam asked why Jibrail did not come along with him.

Then Rasulullah sallalahu alaihi wasalam looked at his daughter with a trembled look, as if he wanted to reminisce about every part of his daugther’s face.

Then, Jibrail was called. Jibrail was ready int he sky to welcome the soul of Rasulullah and the leader of the Earth.

“O Jibrail, explain to me about my rights in front of Allah? (subhana watalah), Rasulullah sallalahu alaihi wasalam asked with a very weak voice.

“The doors of the sky have opened; the angels are waiting for your soul. All Jannats are open widely waiting for you” Jibrail said.
But, in fact, all that did not make Rasulullah sallalahu alaihi wasalam relieved.

His eyes were still full of worry.
“You are not happy to hear this news?” asked Jibrail.

“Tell me about the destiny of My People in the future?” said Rasulullah sallalahu alaihi wasalam

“Don’t worry, O’ Rasulullah. I heard Allah (subhana watala) told me: “I make Jannat haram for everyone, except the people of Muhammad,” Jibrail said.

The time for Malaekat Izrail to do his work became closer and closer.
Slowly, Rasulullah’s sallalahu alaihi wasalam soul was pulled.  It seems that the body of Rasulullah sallalahu alaihi wasalam was full of sweat; the nerves of his neck became tight.

“Jibrail, how painful this is!” Rasulullah sallalahu alaihi wasalam slowly uttered with a groan.
Fatimah closed her eyes, Ali sat beside her bow deeply and Jibrail turned his face back.
“Am I repugnant to you that you turn your face back O Jibrail?” Rasulullah sallalahu alaihi wasalam asked.

“Who is the one who could see Habibullah in His sakartul maut,” Jibrail said.  “Not for a while,” then Rasulullah sallalahu alaihi wasalam uttered a groan because of unbearable pain.
“O Allah (subhana watala) how great is this sakartul maut. Give me all these pains, but DON’T to MY PEOPLE.”

The body of Rasulullah sallalahu alaihi wasalam became cold, his feet and chest did not move anymore.

With tears in eyes, His lips vibrated as if he wanted to say something. Ali took his ear close to Rasulullah sallalahu alaihi wasalam, “Uushiikumbis salahti, wa maa malakat aimanuku” “Take care of the salat and take care of the weak people among you.”

Outside the room, there were cries, each one shouting, Sahaba holding each other. Fatimah closed her face with her hands.

Again, Ali took his ear close to Rasulullah’s sallalahu alaihi wasalam and with this mouth which became bluish, and tears in his eyes, he uttered: “Ummatii Ummatii, Ummatii” “ My People, My People, My People“

Smile-The Weapon of Islam!

What is a Smile? 

In Physiology , a smile is a facial expression formed by flexing the muscles most notably near both ends of the mouth. The smile can be also around the eyes. In Psychology, smile is an impulse response to some situation that consequently takes us back to the emotionally stable state (this one I coined myself). One more way to define smile is, a way of welcoming any person or thing or situation in life . 

Smile : Naturally Taught Many people think that a person learns to smile as he learns to speak. But there are evidences of a baby smiling in a mother’s womb.  Also we know that blind people smile too hence proving that smile is Naturally taught just as crying as naturally taught. A baby comes to this world already aware of the art of crying. 

He who smiled the most Rasulullah (S.A.W): Abdullah ibn Haarith, radi Allahu 'anhu, said, "I have never seen any one who smiled more than Allah's Messenger." (JAMI TIRMIDHI) Jarir, radi Allahu 'anhu, reported: "Since I embraced Islam Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) never refused to see me and he did not see me but with a smile on his face." (SAHIH MUSLIM) 

Why don’t we Smile? Why do we save our smiles when our Ideal (S.A.W) used to smile the most? We see that people who are religious tend to have serious faces , they hardly smile. I’ve heard people relating the incidents of lives of saints who didn’t smile their whole life. Let us change this concept. Ideal for us is the Life of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W). Islam does not stop us from smiling in fact it encourages. It gives us reasons to smile. So beautify your faces with a smile. 

The smallest distance between two people is smile. What does it take to Smile? We hardly have to move a muscle to smile but the effect a smile has is tremendous. It can win the hearts. It can take care of very tense situations. Smile begets smile. Smile, and the world will smile back at you. Smile at the nature and the nature will smile back at you. Smile is a good way to express your pleasure. Actions speak louder than words. How often you find it so hard to express your Love for some, your pleasure on some happening. A smile would do just the thing. Like a couplet in urdu says Aansu chalak paray to kuch laj raeh gae Azhaar e gham ka werna saleeka na tha mujhay ( Translation : Tears felt and hence saved my honour, otherwise I didn’t knew how to express my sorrow ) Smile : An invitation to Truth A smile is the light in your window that tells others that there is a caring, sharing person inside. 

Everyone loves a SMILE in a society full of Love and Peace. Islam teaches us to build societies bases on loved and sincerity but unfortunately we are not presenting the Islam the way it should be. Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) was so kind and loving. Anyone could come and speak up his heart in front of the prophet. Prophet’s (S.A.W) smile would have a soothing effect on the hearts of the people. We have to base our society on the same principles of Love ,affection and sincerity and people will come it on their own. 

Let’s start building that society by greeting others, giving gifts and exchanging smiles. Even a Smile ! Prophet Muhammad S.A.W said, “Smiling in the face of your brother is charity (Sadaqa)”(JAMI TIRMIDHI).Hadrat Ibn 'Abbas (God be pleased with him) relates that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) observed: "The pious offspring who casts a single look of affection at his parents receives a reward from God equal to the reward of an accepted Hajj." (SAHIH MUSLIM) 

So why waste your time in frowns when Smile gives you a way to follow the Sunnah, win the hearts of others, earn good deeds and give charity.

Disobedience to Parents

Among the major sins is disobedience to parents

Narrated by Abu Bakar (ra) Allah's messenger. Rasulullah (saw) said: "Shall I inform you of the greatest sins and in another variation he repeated this three times. We the companions said, "Certainly, O messenger of Allah! He (saw) said: "Associating anyone with Allah, disobedience to parents". The prophet sat up straight after he had reclined and added, "And I warn you against false utterance and false witness, "And I warn you against false utterance and false witness". The messenger of Allah (saw) kept saying that warning until we thought that he would not stop". Bukhari & Muslim

 

 

 

 

A Brief Life Story of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

• 570 AD Muhammad ibn Abdullah was born in Mecca
• Abd Allah, Muhammad's father, belonged to the tribe of Fihr, or the Quarish
• His father passed away before his birth and his mother died when he was six
• Muhammad went first to live with his grandfather Abd al-Muttalib who also passed away and then lived with his uncle Abu Talib
• To support himself he shepherded sheep
• His parents' early demise signified that he had received a scanty education
• When he was 25, he was employed by Khadija, a wealthy widow
• His role was act as her agent, to negotiate, her business transactions
• Very soon after they married. She was 40. They were wed for over 25 years until her death. During her lifetime Muhammad married no other wife
• Muhammad and Khadija had two sons, both of which died very young and four daughters. Fatima, was more renowned, because she married Ali: Muhammad's cousin
• Muhammad loved the colour green: he always wore a green turban which thereafter, became the colour of turbans, worn by ruling Caliphs
• When Muhammad conquered Mecca, he was holding the Holy banner which was green with golden embroidery

The Spread of Islam

One of the most astounding facts about the prophet muhammad: A hundred years after the death of the prophet Muhammad, the Islamic faith was disseminated to Egypt and to North Africa. Its most western sweep was taking the Iberian Peninsula and its most eastern sweep was Sassanian Persia. 

The reign of Moorish Spain lasted over seven hundred years. Historic Cordoba situated in Andalucia Spain was where Caliphal Cordoba centered on Caliphal Architecture. The Caliphal city of Madinat-az-Zahra along with the last European monumental city of Islamic Architecture: the Alhambra Granada Spain are but a few highlights of the glory of Islamic al-Andalusia.

ON PRIDE

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Whoever has PRIDE IN HIS HEART equal to the weight of a mustard seed shall not enter Paradise.”

Someone asked, “A person likes to wear beautiful clothes and fine shoes.” He replied, “Allah is beautiful and likes beauty. Pride means rejecting the truth and looking down on other People.” [Sahih Muslim].

It is no sin to wear beautiful things or to look good, but to have pride means to feel that one is superior to another because of the provisions that Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) has provided one with. It is Allah’s will who He decides to give what to in this world. It is not a sign of Allah’s pleasure or displeasure. The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) told us that were this world the place of reward and punishment, the Kuffar would not be given even a sip of water to drink. Complete reward and punishment are reserved for the never ending hereafter. This worldly life is in its entirety a test. And what we are provided with in terms of family, wealth, health and opportunities are part of our question papers. What we do with them is our test.

Pride inflates a person’s ego to the extent that his/her rationality ceases to function. Abu Jahl’s denial of the prophethood of Muhammad (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) was because of pride in his clan and inter tribal rivalry with the Banu Hashim. He was one of the fiercest opponents of Islam till the day he died, despite believing that Muhammad (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) was truly a prophet. The words of Abu Jahl in this regard are: “By God, I know that he is not a liar, but I cannot simply join him; my tribe (Bani Makhzoom) and his have always competed against one another. They took the responsibility of providing water for the pilgrims, so we took the responsibility of providing assistance. We host many with food and drink exactly as they do. Now that we are of an almost equal status, they say that amongst them is a prophet! That is too much to compete with!” So Abu Jahl rejected the prophethood of Muhammad (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) to protect his pride, even if it meant going to hell for it. Thus we see how shortsighted pride makes a person.

The denial of Muhammad’s prophethood by the Bani Israel was also because of pride. They had been expecting the last prophet to come from the children of Ishaq (alaihis salaam) as all the other prophets of Bani Israel had. Instead, Muhammad (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) came from the descendants of Ismail (alaihis salam). Both were the sons of Ibraheem (alaihis salam) but from different mothers. The various Jewish tribes that had settled in Madina, leaving their lands of origin, had only done so because they were awaiting the arrival of the last prophet, and based on their scriptures they believed Madina to be the place of his arrival. But their pride in their lineage and their superiority complex over the Arabs caused them to reject the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) when he did come, despite recognizing him better than they did their own families.

The shortsightedness that pride inspires causes one to overlook the most serious of consequences. What is most relevant for each of us is to investigate which truths we are denying or brushing aside because we don’t like the people who are the carriers of that truth or because we consider them to be beneath us.

Rasullah SAW (pbuh) Said:

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr:
A man said to the Prophet, "Shall I participate in Jihad?" The Prophet said, "Are your parents living?" The man said, "Yes." the Prophet said, "Do Jihad for their benefit."


Narrated Al-Mughira:
The Prophet said, "Allah has forbidden you ( 1 ) to be undutiful to your mothers (2) to withhold (what you should give) or (3) demand (what you do not deserve), and (4) to bury your daughters alive. And Allah has disliked that (A) you talk too much about others ( B), ask too many questions (in religion), or (C) waste your property."

Rasullah SAW (pbuh) Humble Manner

At the time when the Quran was being revealed to Rasulullah SAW (pbuh), he used to smile most. When something happened, he entrusted it to Allah, kept himself free from his own strength and ability and said in invocation: 'O Allah, show me truth in a true manner or give me grace to give it up. You guide to the straight path whomsoever You will.'

Allah revealed the Quran to him and through it He taught him good manners."

Rasullah SAW (pbuh) Humble Manner

He was the most modest, without pride, and his tongue was most eloquent without prolongation of speech. His constitution was the most beautiful. No worldly duties could keep him busy.

He used to go even to a distant place to see the sick, loved scents and hated a stench or bad smell, sat with the poor and the destitute, ate with them, honored those possessing honor, advised them to do good and show kindness to relatives. He did not treat harshly to anybody and accepted excuses offered to him.

Rasullah SAW (pbuh) humble manner

Rasullulah SAW (pbuh) was always the first to greet another and would not withdraw his hand from a handshake till the other man withdrew his. If one wanted to say something in his ears, he would not turn away till one had finished (Abu Dawud, Tirmizi). He did not like people to get up for him and used to say,

"Let him who likes people to stand up in his honour, he should seek a place in hell." (Abu Dawud, Kitabul Adab, Muhammadi Press, Delhi).

Prophet Muhammad's Last Sermon Date delivered: 632 A.C., 9th day of Dhul al Hijjah, 10 A.H. in the 'Uranah valley of Mount Arafat.

The Last Sermon Confirms the Main Points from the Quran

"Oh Prophet, We have sent you as a witness, news bearer and a warner and as someone who invites people to God by His permission and a shining Lamp" (33:45-46).

Prophet Muhanimad (PBUH) who was sent to mankind as a news bearer and a wamer for he spoke the truth and did not invent something of his own. The purpose of this article is to confirm the statements made by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during his farewell address during the last pilgrimage (10 AH).

After praising and thanking God, the Messenger said, "Oh people, listen to my words carefully for I know not whether I will meet you on such an occasion again."

TRUST AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Sermon: "Oh people, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Remember that you will indeed appear before God and answer for your actions."

Quran: "If anyone killed a person unless it is for a murder or spreading mischief on earth it would be as it he killed the whole mankind, and if anyone who saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of whole mankind" (5:32). "Then on that day not a soul will be wronged in the least and you shall but be prepaid in the needs of your past deeds" (36:54).

FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS

Sermon: "Return the things kept with you as trust (amanah) to their rightful owners."

Quran: "If one of you entrusts (something) the one who has been entrusted with it should hand over his security and he should heed God and not hide any testimony. Anyone who hides it-has a sinfull heart" (2:283).

INTEREST (RIBAH)

Sermon: "All dues of interest shall stand cancelled and you will have only your capital back. Allah has forbidden interest, and I cancel the dues of interest payable to may uncle Abbas ibn Abdul Muttalib."

Quran: "You who believe fear God and write off anything that remains outstanding from lending at interest if you are (true) God and His Messenger If you repent you may retail your principal do not wrong and you will not be wronged" (2:278).

TREATMENT OF WIFE (SPOUSE)

Sermon: "Oh people, your wives have a certain right over you and you have a certain right over them. Treat them well and be kind to them for they are your committed partners and commited helpers.

Quran: "Provide for them the rich according to his income and the poor according to his means, a provision according to the custom. This is an obligation for those who act kindly" (2:236). "Treat them politely even if you dislike them,. Perhaps you dislike something in which God has placed much good" (4:19).

WARNING ABOUT SATAN

Sermon: "Beware of Satan, he is desperate to divert you from the worship of God so beware of him in matters of your way of life."

Quran: "Verily Satan is an enemy to you so treat him as an enemy. He only invites his followers that they may become companions of the blazing fire" (35:6).

BROTHERHOOD

Sermon: "Oh you people listen carefully. All the believers are brothers. You are not allowed to the things belonging to another Muslim unless he give it to you willingly."

Quran: "Believers are but brothers so set things right between your brothers and fear God so that you may find mercy" (49: 1 0).

SUPERIORITY IS ONLY IN PIETY AND SUBMISSION

Sermon: "Oh people, no one is higher than the other unless he is higher in obedience to God. No Arab is superior to a non-Arab except in piety."

Quran:"The most honored among you in the sight of God is (he who is) the most righteous of you and God has full knowledge and is will acquainted (with all things)" (49:134). "Who can be better in religion than he who submits his whose self to God, does good and follows the ways of abraham for God did take Abraham for a friend" (4:125).

IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL WE MUST OBEY BOTH GOD AND HIS MESSENGER

Sermon: "Oh people, reflect on my words. I leave behind me two things, the Quran and my example and if you follow these, you will not fail."

Quran: "And obey God and the Messenger so that you may receive mercy" (3:132).

OBSERVE THE PILLARS OF ISLAM

Sermon: "Listen to me carefully. Worship God and offer prescribed prayer, observe fasting in the month of Ramadan and pay the poor-due."

Quran: "And establish the prescribed prayer, practice regular charity and bow down with those who bow down" (2:43). "Oh you who believe, fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you that you may learn self-restraint" (2:183).

DUTIES REGARDING THOSE WORKING UNDER US

Sermon: "Oh people, be mindful of those who work under you. Feed and clothe them as you feed and clothe yourselves."

Quran: "Act kindly just as God treated you kindly" (28:77). "God has favored some of you over their provisions to those whom their right hand controls so that they become equal (partners) in it. Would they thus disclaim God's favor" (16:71).

MUHAMMAD WAS THE LAST PROPHET

Sermon: "Oh people, no prophet or messenger will come after me and no new faith will emerge."

Quran: "Muhammad is not the father of any of you men but he is God's Messenger and the Seal of Prophets. God is aware of everything" (33:40).

OUR DUTY IS TO SPREAD THE MESSAGE OF THE PROPHET (QURAN)

Sermon: "All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again (and people did).

Quran: "Oh Messenger, communicate whatever has been sent down to you by your Lord. If you do not do so, you will not have conveyed his message" (5:67).

Sermon: Have I conveyed the Message of God to you? asked the Prophet facing towards the heavens. The audience answered in one voice, "You have, God is the witness."

Quran: As the Messenger finished the following revelation came to him, "Today I have perfected your religion for you, completed my favors upon you and have chosen for you Islam as the way of life for you" (5:3).

Qualities of Rasullulah (pbuh)

Out of the many beautiful qualities and attributes of our Prophet, was that he was very focussed on his mission as a Prophet of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala), intent on guiding the people around him, and continuously concentrating on the political situation in Arabia. He wasn’t distracted or allowed his focus to be distorted by the pleasures of this world.
It was reported that when he was with someone, he would be fully engaged with them; turning his full body towards the person and listening to them attentively. When he was with his family, he devoted his attention to them and only when the prayer time came did his focus shift away from them and towards devotion to his salah.
Reflecting on the above, the secret to the Prophet’s achievements in life is that he was focussed on Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) all the time and seeking His pleasures – nobody else’s. This meant the Prophet shaped his priorities around his Hereafter and didn’t let the world distract him.
If you’re with Allah, then there’s nothing that you lose. And if you’re not with Allah, then you’ve lost everything. Focus on being with Allah through acts of worship such as remembrance, salah, sadaqah; seeking His pleasure in everything you do, and watch yourself live a truly focussed life..

Finest Character
